ABOUT THE NORTHERN TEXAS PGAThe Northern Texas PGA (NTPGA) is one of 41 Sections of the PGA of America.
Its geographic territory includes the State of Texas north of the 31st latitude, or just north of Austin.
The Northern Texas PGA is comprised of approximately 900 PGA members and associates employed at more than 300 facilities.
The Northern Texas PGA has 21 full-time staff members.
Seventeen of those 21 full-time staff members are past interns of the NTPGA.
In the Fall of 2022, the Northern Texas PGA joined the PGA of America national office relocation to the PGA Frisco campus with its own state-of-the-art headquarters, including a 2-acre synthetic Golf Park and Growth of the Game pavilion.
In addition to managing the day-to-day affairs of the Section, the Northern Texas PGA also operates a non-profit and charitable foundation that focuses on five pillars:
junior golf, college scholarships, inclusion, internships, and military and veterans.
The mission of the Northern Texas PGA is to serve its members and grow the game.
INTERNSHIP START & END DATES September 5 - December 3(start and end dates are somewhat flexible based on successful applicant's school schedule)JOB SUMMARYThe Northern Texas PGA is seeking qualified applicants for an 13-week internship in golf tournament operations during the Fall of 2023.
Successful applicants will be responsible for helping conduct day-to-day operations of the Northern Texas PGA Junior Tour and the Northern Texas PGA Foundation's Junior Golf programming.
This internship includes comprehensive training in golf tournament operations, event management, Rules of Golf, and professional development.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Execute pre-tournament responsibilities, such as tournament information collection, printing tournament documents, equipment/signage set-up, and golf course set-up Administer on-site responsibilities, such as player registration, starting, rules officiating, scoring, and awards presentations Execute post-tournament responsibilities, including completing, organizing, and submitting tournament reports, distributing tournament results, and equipment tear-down Effectively communicate with host professional staff, junior golfers, parents, caddies, and spectators Manage tournament equipment through transporting equipment to and from facilities, inventory reporting, and maintenance Inform and enforce Junior Tour Rules & Regulations including Rules of Golf, Caddie Program, and Pace of Play Provide support to select Section and Foundation operations through various on-site responsibilities FALL TOURNAMENT SCHEDULEFall Junior Tour Operations interns in West Texas will be responsible for helping conduct approximately three Junior Tour tournaments a week.
These tournaments will include formats such as single day, 18-hole and 9-hole stroke play competitions.
Interns will be responsible for conducting all of these events from start to finish.
A Fall Junior Tour Operations intern in West Texas should expect to work, on average, 1-2 weekend days, including some weekdays, and will work approximately 10-20 hours each week.
QUALIFICATIONS OF CANDIDATERequired:
Will live in West Texas (Lubbock, Amarillo, or Odessa/Midland area) for the duration of the internship Pursuing a college degree (third or fourth-year students preferred) Has automobile access with willingness and ability to travel across West Texas Has existing insurance (through school or parents) Exhibits ability to work and communicate effectively in a team-based environment General computer literacy (i.

Microsoft Office, Smartphone Apps) Physical Requirements:
Ability to work early mornings Ability to work outside in extreme weather and temperatures Ability to lift objects up to 50 pounds, i.

tents, tables, stakes, and championship signage Ability to safely operate a golf cart Ability to stand and move around on foot for extended periods of time Ability to speak publicly Effectively able to use and operate cell phones, tablets, and hand-held radios Preferred:
Basic knowledge of the game and rules of golf Interest in a career in golf or sports administration TOURNAMENT TRAVELTournaments will be located throughout the entire West Texas region.
Interns can expect to work a tournament at a different golf course each weekend and will be responsible for their own transportation to and from all tournaments.

COMPENSATION Interns will be compensated at $135 per tournament (before taxes) and $67.
50 per day (before taxes) during training Interns will be reimbursed for some business travel at current IRS approved rates If an overnight stay is required because of a sanctioned tournament, the hotel room will be paid for by the NTPGA When an overnight stay is required, the NTPGA will provide a meal allowance NTPGA staff uniforms including golf shirts and hats School credit (if applicable) HOUSINGThe Northern Texas PGA does not provide housing of any kind.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
